SEVERAL REASONS TO HAVE AN ULTRASOUND:
- 1.Your pregnancy & abortion options depend on how far along you are
2. So you need a Pregnancy Verification that dates and verifies your pregnancy
3. The most accurate way to date an early pregnancy is through a limited ultrasound
4. The ultrasound can confirm if the pregnancy is viable and alert you if there are other health concerns to be aware of. Tubal pregnancies or miscarriage can occur in as many as 25% of pregnancies. If you are considering abortion and are in this 25%, you may not need to pay for abortion services.
THE ULTRASOUND OFFERED AT SUPPORT CIRCLE WILL:
- Provide your estimated due date
- Measure the size of the fetus, which gives us its age.
- Confirm if there is a fetal heart beating, which indicates it’s viable.
- Identify if the pregnancy is growing in your uterus.
- Try to identify if there is more than one fetus.
- Identify possible miscarriage
- If the nurse is not able to verify viability or that it is in your uterus, referrals to local ERs or clinics will be given to you.
- The type of ultrasound we offer is a limited ultrasound, not a diagnostic ultrasound.
- There are medical guidelines for ultrasound services. If your circumstances meet the medical criteria for an ultrasound, we will coordinate services the same day or schedule a follow-up visit. The average appointment time, with an ultrasound, is 1.5 hours.
The pregnancy calculator below provides an estimate of your due date. For accurate dating, please schedule an ultrasound.
WHAT IS ULTRASOUND?
Ultrasound is a technique that uses sound waves to project a picture of an embryo or fetus in the womb. Ultrasound works by sending and receiving sound waves off the developing fetus. Echoes from the waves are converted into an image, called a sonogram, as seen on a monitor. Ultrasounds have been used for more than 30 years, and no risks have been identified.
