I had pregnancies terminated at Planned Parenthood

I had previous pregnancies terminated at Planned Parenthood. I really wanted to keep those babies but I was only 16 and 17 years old. I had no support from my family. It was an abusive home and I didn’t want to bring a child home into that situation. I figured it would be better to have an abortion.

This time, I had been in a relationship for several years. When we met, I didn’t know he was married. By the time I found out, I was in love and pregnant. He told me he was in the process of getting a divorce and a baby would mess with his alimony payments. He asked me to have an abortion and offered to go to Planned Parenthood with me. I found out he had been trying to work things out with his wife the whole time. I finally saw him for who he really was and ended the relationship.

I came to Support Circle to get a free ultrasound to date my pregnancy. The Planned Parenthood people were nice, but their services cost money. Things are different this time. I’m 37 years old, I am employed and have a supportive system around me. And I have Support Circle. My Patient Advocate, Claudia, was very helpful. She asked about me and what do I want? After talking to Claudia, I feel stronger and I am determined to make my own decision about what I want to do with this baby.
